Entrepreneurial Role Models:
When business started difficulties overcame:
“definitely not having enough cash to grow. I used credit cards; I used a lot of credit lines that I tapped into. So definitely cash was a big part. Between my partner and I we stretched as much credit out as possible. And then the other part is I definitely struggled with the financial part of the business. So, I wasn’t a big financial guy. So, I struggled with the P and L and the balance sheets. So, I think fairly early on I recognised that we struggled there. We brought on a fractional CFO just to help to uncover what we knew and didn’t know about the financial part. So that’s properly the two biggest things initially.”…[Listen for More]

Best Advice to Other Entrepreneurs:
“making sure that you block off time. I call it QTBs (Quality Time Blocks). Block of times within your week to make sure you are either working on an important project that will take your business to another level. Other Quotes From the Chat with Robert Clinkenbeard:
- “I think being open to getting advice from others”
- “I think at the beginning I don’t know if I just felt as if I was faking it or felt as though I just fumbled through. But there is so many people out there that are willing to give their advice and especially free advice. Just be open to learning, going round and asking people, learning from their experiences. There is multiple different things that they will share, probably too many to list. See who is around you whether it be mentors or other business owners, friends”
- “I think it has to start with people. If you have the right people on the bus doing the right thing, I think you can go to as far as you want to go. But I think people either their egos get in the way they don’t want to hire people that are better than them. I think you’ve got to always be looking at your org structure, figure out who the people in your organisation that can take my company to the next level. How can I develop those employees to be better than I am. Or if they are not in the company seek the right people in the marketplace to bring in that talent. But to think you have all of the answers as an owner I think that’s a huge mistake”
