When business started difficulties overcame:
“I had a lot of mindset stuff. One of the things that you’re here is you will never succeed unless you get your mindset right. And I am the poster child for why that is not true at all. I am the least likely person to ever become an entrepreneur. I was a home-schooled pastor’s kid, introverted, who spent hours upon hours a day either reading or practising a musical instrument. I was not that person in high school who sold stuff to their friends and made money and ended up starting… Or putting themselves through school by starting a house painting business”…[Listen for More]

Best Advice to Other Entrepreneurs:
“decide as quickly as possible who the right person is that you want to have in your life especially if you are doing client work. One of the best questions I have asked myself was if a client landed in San Diego, got off a plane and texted me and said hey man I just dropped in let me buy you a drink, come out. Who is the person I would want to get that text from that I would want to say yes to?… The faster you figure out who that right person is the faster you can make all those other decisions that I mentioned. Like what’s the one thing I am going to sell to them? How do I become micro in that space to them? You can’t make any of those decisions or take any action there until you make that very first decision. Who is that person that I want to serve and impact, person that I want to teach, train and lead? Who is that person that I want to hang out with? Make that decision as quickly as possible and then you can get busy doing the other stuff”…[Listen for More]

Other Quotes From the Chat with Matt Johnson:
- “I could have never done what I’ve done without seeing how it’s done up close and hanging out the person who is doing it. One of the regrets of my life is that I didn’t get around super successful people earlier because once I did it was really fast, I was able to imitate what I saw then go out on my own and reproduce it. But it took me so long to build those connections and get around ultra-successful people that I spent most of my life not knowing anyone run a business, not knowing anyone who went to college let alone graduated ”
- “if somebody told me that there is going to be a time that you say yes to everything and then there is going to be a time when definition of success and it’s more about what you say no to and the more successful you want to be the more you have to say no. So you have to recognise when that shift happens…”
- “I think we’ve bought into the lie all success flows from whoever gets the most attention – especially on social media ”
- “I think one of the secrets to success now in the online world where we live in right now is to become micro to just the right people. You don’t need everybody; you don’t need everybody’s eyeballs on your content.”
- “What actually gets most people to success is the small changes that they make that are permanent not the huge changes they make that turn out to be temporary”
- “Everything doesn’t have to be a large shift it can start with small changes that are permanent because they become part of the systems of your life and your business”
