Other Quotes From the Chat with Eric Partaker:
- “Culture and brand are two sides of the same coin. They are essentially what you stand for and what you stand against. And if you don’t have your culture right what will happen is that you will mis-hire, misfire…you will perhaps fail to promote or over promote. And all of this can lead to dysfunctional teams and all of this can lead to silos forming within the teams. At the end of the day the company is a collection of people and just like a collection of people on a sports field that collection of people wins when they are play well together and they kind of represent the single thing, whatever it is that they stand for. And it is the same for business culture is absolutely paramount”
- “really, really focus on profit as quickly as quickly…as fast as possible”
- “don’t get fooled by the Facebooks and the Ubers of the world who raised tons of money and burn through it all in the hope that eventually they will be profitable. That is not what drives the majority of the world’s economy and that is not where the majority of the opportunity when it comes to entrepreneurship lies. So, you really need to focus on profitability and get that right because that is your lifeblood”
- “be hard-working, be focused and be anti-fragile. Meaning don’t shy away from stress realise it’s the stress that makes you stronger. And actually, step into it just as you would a weight in the gym, step into the weight, curl it, you complete the repetition and as a result you strengthen yourself”
- “on a daily basis I measure whether or not I’ve won the day or I learned from the day. So, I put a W for the day or an L and try not to have more than six L’s in a month and never two in a row ”
