Entrepreneurial Role Models:
When business started difficulties overcame:
“really it would be my own self-consciousness… When you make that transition to being you the one that is backing yourself versus performing someone else’s choreography or someone else’s songs or someone else’s material, when it’s all you, you’ve created you are promoting it’s harder, it’s more personal I think. And it was that in the beginning”…[Listen for More]

Favourite Quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love: Reflections on the Principles of “A Course in Miracles”

Best Advice to Other Entrepreneurs:
“I would say it is for things. 1) get clear on what it is that you want. 2) be good at what you do which is a little bit more nuanced than simply being good. It means that includes yes being good at whatever the thing is that you do. But also, that includes having integrity, being where you say you are going to be, doing what you say you are going to do. Then you have to be 3) be nice to everybody because you never know how relationships are going develop over time. And really that so much of what create success and my experience is that relationships that you have with different people or organisations. And then say yes until saying yes becomes a problem. Then you can maybe say no every once in a while”…[Listen for More]

Other Quotes From the Chat with Dane Reis:
- “find yourself a mentor or a coach straightaway and maybe find a couple. And I made a lot of silly mistakes, I’ve spent loads of money on things that simply weren’t profitable. Yes, I’ve learned from everyone single one of those experiences whether it was just financial or operational but instead of just learning from the mistakes and having to deal with those upsets I could have accelerated my success if I would have found a really great mentor that had been there and done that”
- “I think a secret to success for sure is being consistent and being clear on what it is that you want. Asking yourself what do you want out of your career, your business, whatever it is that you are trying to pursue. Having clarity on that makes almost every other decision easier after that”
- “really tiny actions compound over time both in the good and the bad”
- “you never just stay the same. You are either improving or you are declining. And that’s a constant.”
- “We have to put ourselves out there… Having that energy, having the vulnerability to put yourself into situations that you are uncomfortable… It’s fearful, it’s stressful but it’s also exciting and exhilarating. And as you do it, I think it really empowers you as a person, you get stronger as a person. And really, it’s about that exchange of energy and the exchange of helping people more fulfil their human condition and I think it’s so important to do that it’s no good being walled up and closed off to everyone all of the time. We are here, we are humans we are here to have experiences with people and the only way we do that is putting ourselves out there”
- “you envision what you want to create”
- “you got to go too far at least once”
