Entrepreneurial Role Models:
When business started difficulties overcame:
“I think the biggest one was really just getting stuck on the tools. I really just got into that habit of feeling well I know how to do the thing… All of the skills that I’d used that helped me to build up the business to one level that ended up being the things that held me back from growing it through to the next level… Now I need to let go of some of those habits, I need to empower other team members and then I need to step back”…[Listen for More]

Best Advice to Other Entrepreneurs:
“realise that systems set you free and that there are a lot of misconceptions around systems and processes and systemising businesses. People think that you are going to need hundreds of systems to systemised the business. You don’t. People are going to think systems remove creativity in your business but they don’t. People think that they need to be the ones that build the systems but they don’t. People think that they need to systemised like McDonald’s but they don’t. There is a lot of misconceptions around systemisation. Other Quotes From the Chat with David Jenyns:
- “I think the biggest thing was understanding the idea that if the business doesn’t work without the business owner it’s broken. I think that really is the ultimate goal. Yes, there will be times when you are getting it up and running and you are bootstrapping it and you are just getting going that the business is going to be dependent on the business owner. But you need to see a way out of that. If you are in a business and you can’t see the business ever functioning without you then I would say that is a broken business because it’s more of a job than it is actually a business. And that’s okay but it depends on what it is you are looking to build. And I think a lot of business owners when they get into business, they are looking for that freedom and the only way you’re going to find freedom is by getting the business to a point where it operates without you”
- “I think one of the biggest secrets is really persistence. I think a lot of people give up two early or they jump from one opportunity to the next without necessarily going deep enough on it. Everything takes time to grow. You plant a seed and then you need to tend to that seed and you need to water it. It doesn’t make sense to plant that seed and then come back next week and go where is my fruit. It takes time. So, I think that’s when most people go wrong, they just don’t tend to that fruit and that plant over a long enough period and therefore they don’t get the result”
- “it’s about working on yourself and improving yourself”
