When business started difficulties overcame:
“It really just came down to making that leap. I think that firstly is the hardest. You know you love getting paid every two weeks, you love your health insurance, you love your paid vacation, you love the idea that at the end of the day it’s not your company, it’s not your money, if some reason the company doesn’t have a good day or something goes wrong you are going to have a catastrophic ripple effect into what you do. So getting your mind around and getting your will around I am okay I’m going to do this, I’m going to quit my job, I am going to go out there and exhaust my savings and I am going to start a company I think is the first step. I took that step little faster than most only because I had started as an entrepreneur at such a young age. But then I think again going back to that point is depending on when you do this in life… and some people do it later in life and some people do it earlier or at a midpoint, you have to be okay with that balance which is a) I’m going to watch my friends by homes and cars and go on more vacations than I will and I’m not going to be able to do those things because I am going to put all of my money, time and resource into building my business. Other Quotes From the Chat with Nick Buzzell:
- “do your research to really understand what you are doing and where you are doing it and who you are doing it for and with. First I think the more knowledge you have coming in the better. I would really make sure that your idea is well thought out and really well flushed out and you thought about all the different what ifs. I would also suggest that you look at it through the lens what and how can I do something that hasn’t been done before or how can I do something slightly different”
- “be unapologetically yourself, stay focused and don’t get distracted by the noise and not getting distracted by people around you or hearing about ideas and things that are similar to yours and then thinking that you have to pivot everything and change everything because it’s too close to home”
- “I still feel like I’m on the road to success. As successful as I have been in several ways, in several things I’m still on the road to prove this model, I’m still on the road to show the world what the future of media can be when it comes to a consumer centric experience on any device that doesn’t have an interruptive add, it allows people to make an instant purchase and it does it in a way that is storytelling and entertaining. To me the journey continues.”
