Other Quotes From the Chat with Mehram Sumray-Roots:
- “the most surprising thing that I’ve learnt is patience… It’s so easy especially when you are young to get caught up in the energy of the start-up world and the enthusiasm and the fast-paced nature of it and just think that everything has to run at a hundred mph. It doesn’t necessarily have to do that. I think sometimes we can learn from other generations. That you can take a step back a little bit and give everything time and not everything has to be so fast paced and here done now. Sometimes having patience and actually allowing yourself six months rather than six weeks to do something will work out in the long run better for you”
- “biggest challenge has been to grow as quickly as you want to because you have massive ideas for growth and how you can do it… Kind of get caught in this Catch-22 loop sometimes. But that really is where you have to take a step back and just think no and just map this out, look at where this can go, don’t get caught in a frustrated bubble which I think quite easily happen”
- “no day is the same you are learning something new every single day whether it’s about finance or marketing or even social skills whatever it is there is always something to learn”
- “a lot of people give up a bit too easily”
- “not being afraid to think small and then grow big rather than think big and grow small”
- “you can be incredibly successful in your sector. If you are building something that solves a real problem for a particular sector or for a particular audience then you are really going to be well-known in that space if you can do it right”
- “how you can make a multigenerational workforce and one that works for you”
- “even just within our small company you can see how everyone benefits from being introduced to people of different ages and different experiences, different backgrounds. All of that is rich knowledge that can be shared between a team”
