What makes The Top 50 Books for Entrepreneurs so special is that it is not just a list of the current ‘best sellers’ it is actually based on a poll of guests on The Entrepreneur Way podcast show. Many of the guests have read many books and they have given their favourite book during the interview. This means that the list is all-time favourite of successful entrepreneurs. Also for a book to feature in the Top 50 they had to have had multiple votes from different guests. Once the list had been compiled they were sorted according to popularity with the number one position being the most popular. During the early years of my entrepreneurial journey I read a very small quantity of quality of books. In recent years I have read considerably more books. The biggest thing that I have learned is that I should have read a lot more in the early years of being an entrepreneur all the way through. There are so many things that I could have done better and avoided some of the mistakes that I have made on the way.
Reading quality books like the ones listed on The Top 50 Books for Entrepreneurs in this list is the best way of vicariously learning. We don’t always have to make the mistakes ourselves and we don’t always have to do everything by trial and error. It is so much better to learn from other people who have done what we have done or we have not done. Reading allows us to stand on the shoulders of giants and learn from people who have overcome massive challenges to become successful. Most of the guests on The Entrepreneur Way believe this to be the case.
- A lot of well know successful entrepreneurs also read a lot of books. For example:
- Bill Gates reads 1 book per week.
- Mark Zuckerberg reads a book every 2 weeks.
- Elon Musk is an avid reader.
- Warren Buffett allocates about 80% of each day to reading.
- Mark Cuban reads more than 3 hours every day.
- Oprah Winfrey read one book a month.
Whether you are a solopreneur, or you employ many people, a small business or a big business, a trailblazer or following in the footsteps of others there is so much to be learned from reading. We can learn from the successes and failures, we can develop skills and necessary business strategies, and create new ways of thinking. Regardless of the niche that our business is in there are many things that we can learn from other entrepreneurs that we can transfer to our own business. The idea and experiences that we discover in the books in The Top 50 Books for Entrepreneurs will allow us to optimise our businesses and innovate in our business.
Being an entrepreneur can be a lonely journey especially if you don’t know other entrepreneurs or you are a solopreneur. I would also recommend listening to podcasts such as The Entrepreneur Way where you get to hear daily about other entrepreneur’s success stories, opinions, tips and more. Podcasts can also be a great source of motivation and inspiration.
